Fresh out of college, Cynthia Lambert reported on the Detroit Red Wings and the NHL for The Detroit News for 12 seasons – from 1986-1998. Not only was it was a time when it was still new and novel for women to have access to the interior of a locker room, but she covered the team as the two-time Stanley Cup mini-franchise was being built.

Lambert has penned her entertaining memoir – Power Play: My Life Inside the Red Wings Locker Room – which details the road to the Cups in 1997-98 and her unique experiences. Also in the book she shares recollections of iconic Red Wings including Gordie Howe, Steve Yzerman, Bob Probert, Sergie Fedorov, Dino Ciccarelli, Shawn Burr and Keith Primeau. En route, Lambert calls out her all too numerous pratfalls and a wide range of experiences while covering this team filled with All-Star players and personalities.
